Josh The Word
Josh The Word
Josh the Word is obsessive. For 30 months straight he’s curated a mixtape for his friends, and he's spent 3 years on his debut album, Psyched Out. Now, Josh's first single “Mixtape/TMI” premieres as an ode to two dying art forms: mixtapes and app-free flirting. It’s a throwback to the days before streaming playlists, when you would make tapes and CDs for your crush.

In “Mixtape/TMI,” Josh the Word carefully balances meticulous cadences and wordplay with distorted soul and nostalgic samples. The accompanying video — equal parts surreal and heartwarming — follows an old man’s journey to deliver a mixtape to a hidden church in Upstate New York. It’s a testament to the power of music to move us, literally and figuratively.

This first single marks Josh the Word as a freshman rapper to watch in 2017.
Cornelius Plus
Cornelius Plus
Cornelius was born in Queens, NY and raised in the West Farms region of the Bronx. His father was an inspector for the electric company and entrepreneur, while his mother was the director of various youth centers and spiritual centers. Cornelius was introspective from an early age and, after his parents split during his childhood, he turned inwards - channeling his emotions into music.

His father introduced him to a wide range of music from R&B to funk to pop, and especially hip-hop. By age 12, he had started writing raps based on the flows of favorites like Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill, Digable Planets, and The Pharcye and late recorded his first song at a community college in Los Angeles, where his mother had relocated, and he lived for half of each year bi-coastally. Soon after he incorporated sounds from funk, pop, EDM, and others and cites Pharrell Williams, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, and James Brown as major musical influences.

Despite earning scholarships to some of the country's best schools, his creativity and unconventional upbringing were barriers between himself and the other kids. He was raised by his father in a single parent household in the Bronx where the importance of education and a blistering work ethic were imparted early on. However, with only one parent to watch over him and his older sister, he developed a remarkable self-reliance and occasionally strayed from the path set before him.

In college, he performed in a jazz/hip-hop band, but when the band dissolved, he started writing and performing as a solo artist and booking concerts for himself and artists like Skizzy Mars and A$AP Ferg.

While trying to get a foot in the door of the music business, he wrote songs for local artists, hosted concerts and music festivals, and released music independently, while learning the ropes of the business. His forays into music would put him in connection with artists like Post Malone, Jon Waltz, and Innanet James, and an aunt's connections in the music business put him in touch with legendary producers like Cory Rooney (of Jennifer Lopez fame).

After learning about distribution and music production, he took to independently releasing his own content through his VIBES Creative Agency.
