Eugene Marie
Eugene Marie
Eugene Marie is a new electro-pop duo from Brooklyn by way of Seattle and Portland. Lucy Marie Horton’s fiercely articulated vocals and Spencer Eugene Stewart’s found-soundscapes are described as “The perfect blend of Björk’s unconventional left field exuberance and Sylvan Esso’s odd-pop earworms” (Crack in the Road).

Their debut self-titled EP (June 9, 2017) combines dense pop harmonies, transcribed conversations, and unlikely synths (vacuum cleaners & screeching subways) for something “ambitious and genre-bending.” By gathering these seemingly mundane artifacts of life and putting them on a pedestal, Eugene Marie’s music creates a beautifully strange impression of Brooklyn and its people.

Beat-driven. Employing heavy elements of funk and soul, paris_monster closes the gaps between synth-pop, garage, and old-school grit. Solid earth. Soaring soundscapes. A mass of noise. Volatility. Vocal singularity.
Hite
Hite
Georgia-born, Brooklyn-based artist Hite (Julia Easterlin) purls a modern Southern Gothic lament on her debut album 'Light of a Strange Day'. Through the language of baroque pop and Appalachian folk music, Hite and producer Shahzad Ismaily (Lou Reed, Karla Kihlstedt, Marc Ribot, Sam Amidon, etc.) bring to light a collection of new work John Schaefer of NPR Music calls, "at once lovely and unsettling... a striking debut."
