Innov Gnawa
Innov Gnawa
Innov Gnawa is a traditional Moroccan gnawa band based in New York City. After gaining recognition as the first gnawa band to be featured in Music Under New York, Innov Gnawa has quickly reached a large and adoring audience by approaching collaborations across all genres with an open spirit. From performing with Americana folk darlings at The Music Hall of Williamsburg to New Orleans second-line all stars at Brooklyn Bowl and most recently with Algeria’s reggae gnawa legends Gnawa Diffusion at Lincoln Center, Innov Gnawa is uniting music fans with their innovative, hypnotic, and ecstatic take on North Africa’s trance-inducing folk tradition. Innov Gnawa released their debut album on July 16, 2015 and will release a limited edition LP this winter on Pique Nique Recordings featuring remixed versions of two traditional gnawa songs.

Innov Gnawa is comprised of Maalem (Master) Hassan Ben Jaafer (Fez), Samir Langus (Agadir), Ahmed Jeriouda (Sale), Amino Belyamani (Casablanca), Said Sayed (Sale) and Nawfal Atiq (Rabat).
Bulla En El Barrio
Bulla En El Barrio
Bulla En El Barrio started in October 2014 and is currently comprised by fourteen people who have been consistently meeting to learn and practice bullerengue. Our hope is to continue creating a fraternal and cultural bond with all the communities where we perform. As of today, the group has performed publicly at Pioneer Works (Brooklyn), Corona Plaza (Queens) in collaboration with Queens Museum, Terrazzo 7 Bar, Barbés Bar (Brooklyn- Current artistic residency performing the last Monday of each month), TSION Café (Harlem- Performing every two months), The Encounter of Colombian Music NYC (Le Poisson Rouge), Brooklyn Music Folk Festival, AfroRoots NYC and with the organizations Little Sisters LLC (Manhattan) and Main Chance NYC in Collaboration with Sister Circle. We are also exited to mention two of our events for this summer 2016 as part of the Afro-Latino Festival NYC and Mi Gente Music Festival (Bronx).
