“…spanning the divides between pop, R&B, dancehall, house, indie rock, and more…in continuum with Thom Yorke and Solange…”

Denitia (former projects: denitia & sene, ADESUWA) is a singer, a songwriter, a guitarist and producer who brings together pop, R&B, electronic and alternative music in a dreamy way that’s hard to pin down...and that’s all right with her.

Finally landing in New York City via Texas, then Nashville, Brooklyn is where Denitia took to the synth and electronic sounds that would become the backbone of future musical projects including indie r&b darling, denitia and sene. That duo project toured extensively, releasing 2 EPs and 2 LPs, and then working with Red Bull and Rinse FM. They attracted acclaim from press like the Fader, Rolling Stone, SPIN, and the NY Times.

Buoyed by the group’s success and eager to work on different sounds, in 2015 Denitia moved to The Rockaways, a quiet beach community at the outermost edge of NYC, and released a dream pop project under an alias, her middle name, ADESUWA. A stepping stone to the re-emergence of Denitia as a solo artist, Denitia then dropped all the band names and aliases to continue recording and performing as a solo artist, under her first name.

In 2016, she created the Ceilings EP that released in Summer 2017 on Brooklyn boutique label, Styles Upon Styles. Recognized for its bold break-out genre-melding sounds, Ceilings attracted acclaim from The Guardian, Village Voice, Pitchfork, Stereogum, Afropunk, among others. The Village Voice said: “Solo projects often involve a certain anxiety, what with the weight of expectation, but Ceilings banishes those concerns from the opening chords.”

Denitia spent most of 2018 releasing series of singles and self-directed videos as a follow-up to the Ceilings EP. 'Never Told You', 'Special', 'One Day' , 'Moments' are explorations of the far reaches of Denitia's ethereal pop style, with UK Mag The Line of Best Fit calling her:

“...a musician doing something fresh and interesting with the dream-pop genre.”

Her latest EP, Be There, is a statement new release on Styles Upon Styles, showcasing the breadth and versatility of the artist's pop songwriting as she follows up her 2017 Ceilings EP with a breathtaking suite of four powerful new tracks that move from ballads to house to dancehall with ease. Stereogum hails the EP as:

The Be There EP will feature on the A side of a special vinyl edition of Denitia's inimitable work on Styles Upon Styles, with the B side containing the 2017 Ceilings EP. The limited, hand-printed vinyl release and full Be There EP will be available in Fall/Winter 2018.
