Russell Elliot x Synead x Dionne Slay

Russell Elliot
Ages 21+

The New York-born musician, artist & activist was named one of Teen Vogue's 17 Rising Stars Who Personify Black Excellence During Black History Month. Synead has been honored by the NAACP as a history maker in her crucial role in community organization and has been a keynote speaker at Harvard's Alumni of Color Conference in 2015 in connection to social justice and organizing the Millions March NYC in 2014.

Synead started on her performance track as a classically trained dancer studying at The Alvin Ailey School, Harlem School of the Arts, and LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts. During these years, she explored acting and studied in programs at Stella Adler and CAP 21. After developing a deep love for theatre and film, she furthered her acting training and attended William Esper Studio in New York City and then abroad at the Royal Academy of the Dramatic Arts in London.

Now living in Brooklyn, she spends her time continuously exploring various mediums of art and expression and developing her identity within these creative endeavors. In the last year, she released new music ("Lost In The Wild"; "Zenith") which premiered on Apple Music's Beats 1 with Ebro Darden. She has also had the opportunity to work on several film & television projects ("Mercy Mistress", "Sasquatch") with diverse and vibrant creatives in New York City and abroad. You can most likely catch her in a yoga class getting centered, on someone's dance floor twirling for her life, or in the studio crafting bodies of work from her experiences in our current political/social climate.

Russell Elliot:

The viral success of Russell Elliot's debut video for "Around", with 1.5+ million views to date, sparked global conversation everywhere from Out.TV in the Netherlands to Attitude Magazine in the UK to Huffpost Queer Voices in the US. As seen on stage at SXSW in 2017 or in his monthly YouTube live shows (half drinking game, half stripped-down concert), this artist's unfiltered ethos and do-or-die soul are responsible for stank faces around the world.

In 2017, anticipating the release of Elliot's Sophomore EP, Split Ends, fans were treated to standalone singles “Orbit” and "On You". Perfectly capturing Elliot's signature low tolerance for bullshit, NYLON flagged "Orbit" as "the perfect addition to your breakup playlist." "On You", a feel-good throwback to 90s cool, premiered with Paper Magazine and was released with an essay Elliot wrote for Thought Catalog titled "Trump's America Will Not Win".

Split Ends, Elliot's sophomore EP, dropped earlier this year to rave reviews from fans and critics alike with Billboard Pride describing lead single "Savage" as a "major pop moment" and Elliot himself as an artist "not to be slept on."
