Georgia-born, Brooklyn-based artist Hite (Julia Easterlin) purls a modern Southern Gothic lament on her debut album 'Light of a Strange Day'. Through the language of baroque pop and Appalachian folk music, Hite and producer Shahzad Ismaily (Lou Reed, Karla Kihlstedt, Marc Ribot, Sam Amidon, etc.) bring to light a collection of new work John Schaefer of NPR Music calls, "at once lovely and unsettling... a striking debut."

Mike Brun
Mike Brun is a musical polymath known for the wide range of his projects. His broad skill set and eagerness to collaborate has led to a kaleidoscopic young career – with work taking him all over, from Off-Broadway stages to dusty DIY spaces, from cozy coffeehouses to 10,000-seat arenas.

These days, Brun is heavily involved in theater. Credits include: music director/onstage musician for Mr. Burns (Playwrights Horizons, 2013); co-arranger/onstage musician for Old Hats (Signature Theatre, 2016); and onstage musician for The Tempest (American Repertory Theater, 2014).
In addition to performance, direction, and arrangement, Brun is also a composer for theater. He is currently developing a show with frequent collaborators Jaclyn Backhaus and Andrew Neisler called Bull’s Hollow, a portrait of what it takes to survive in the world, when your world is inside a whale. Bull’s Hollow is a commission of Ars Nova via their Devised Theater Initiative and a grant from the Jerome Foundation. The Bull’s Hollow team was also part of the Civilians 2014 Research & Development Group.

Brun is Lead Composer of Folk Wandering (play by Jaclyn Backhaus, directed by Andrew Neisler), an American celebration of the untold grief that moves us forward. Since it’s first performance in late 2011, Folk Wandering has sold out venues around New York such as Joe’s Pub, Soho Repertory, and Ars Nova. Brun is also Co-Composer of Gray Man (play by Andrew Farmer, directed by Andrew Neisler), which tells the chilling story of a haunted young man named Simon, trying to escape the tenement squalor of turn-of-the-century Manhattan. Gray Man was the Main Stage Production for the 2015 season of Pipeline Theater Company, with a Halloween-time run at Soho Repertory Theater’s Walker Space.

Brun is a go-to sideman for versatility and thoughtful arrangement. Among many acts, he has most notably played for Shaina Taub, Kate Davis, and Jacob Snider. As a member of the Shaina Taub Trio, he also directed and edited the three in-studio music videos of their 2013 three-track release.

A composer-crooner himself, Brun has established a brand of hypnotic, intelligent music all his own. His most recent album, little blues, is full of “harmonic warmth” and “lyrical intimacy” (Candid Music Group). Live shows feature captivating performances from Brun and his Caravan, a rotating cast of world-class musicians. He is an alum of the 2014 Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriting Project.
