Say She She
Say She She
Say She She is a Brooklyn/London based band led by Piya Malik (79.5,NYMPH) and Sabrina Cunningham (Denny Love) with dreamy harmonies, waterfall-like wha guitar (Matty Mcdermott NYMPH), soothing virtuosic keys (Steve Okonski, Durand Jones and The Indications), Indian infused bansuri flute (Izaak Mills) and a permanently stoney rhythm section led by bassist Nikhil Yerawadekar (former Antibalas) and Andy Bauer (Twin Shadow).

Quintessentially feminine. Say She She tells women’s personal stories written by the band leaders in both English and Hindi. The band’s sound pays homage to the likes of Gloria Ann Taylor and some of the forgotten girl groups of the 60's with an injection of reggae beats, 90's RNB and Indian fusion hooks inspired by sisters Lata Mankeshkar and Asha Boshle.

Following a magical debut show at Barbes this February, the band went on to play at Ronnies Scott’s in London and cut some demos at former MD at Sharon Jones Joey Crispianos’s analog studio in Dumbo and will head out to cut the full length record in Kingston, Jamaica early next year.

“A straight-forward cry of resistance, determination, and electricity, Kareem Bunton and Konstance Patton unfurl a heady mix of jazz, funk, and EDM with razor-sharp lyricism, courtesy of writer Bunton who paints shimmery visuals over lush soundscapes that defy the boundaries of genre. A treat for both old-school R&B heads longing for the days of Curtis Mayfield to the eclectic funk junkies of the SoundCloud era, On High’s latest single “Jailbirds Theme” has got something for everybody.”— AFROPUNK
